HISTORY OF QUAKER OATS LIMITED
Quaker Oats Ltd in a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Quaker Oats Company of Chicago and was established in the UK in 1899. The Southall plant was built in 1936
Puffed Wheat and Puffed Rice were launched in 1907 and 1910 respectively and the business was limited to the three brands until the introduction of Quaker Quick Macaroni in 1948
Sugar Puffs, one of the first pre-sweetend cereals in the UK market, was introduced in 1954, with Oat Krunchies following in 1957
In 1981 the Harvest Crunch cereal snack bar was brought out, with the Harvest Chewy Bar following in 1986
In 1982 Quaker Oats bought Scott’s Porage from A&R Scott who had manufactured it in Scotland since 1880
